The staff memhers and the two sponsors begin gathering at the shack at 6:30 dclock. The editor usually begins the meeting by reminding the different staff members what he should have done the week before and assigning the things to be done during the next week. BeSides the regular work of the staff members, they are alsu called on to sell several annuals during the year. The staffs activity begins soon after the fall semester starts. First, class pictures, club pictures, and all of the other pic' tures are taken. As the pictures come tu the staff from night to night, each takes the ones for his section and arranges them to be sent to the engraver. All of the pictures have to be in by December 1. After that ordeal is over, the stuff begins typing the write'ups which have to he in hy February 1. The different editors hunt'and' peck over the typewriters working up pedigrees, club write'ups, the editoer note, the dedication of the annual feature notes, and the VHUOUS other VVrltC'UpS. Then each staff member proofrreads the COpy with Miss Walker or Dr. Smith and finally works up his part of the dummy which is then sent to the printer. A printeris copy is sent back to the staff and is read and returned on the next mail, That duty over, the staff members breathe a sigh of relief until the annuals are finally delivered to the students in May At this point they are congratulated, reprimanded for misspelled namex and stared at haughtily for cut'off pictures; but each member finds a peculiar satisfaction in seeing his work as a finished product Burns Smith, Lcwis Guthriei Ray Hensley, Miss Mattie Vv'alker, Frances Lovett, Matilu Griffin, Joe Russell, Bill Goodson, Mary Brown, Dri Dick Smith, Nun House, Lillian Ashurn. Jim g-Jac W at Wonk The staff meeting on Monday is the first step in publishing the J Tac In this meeting ideas and news which might interest the student body are discussed, and asslgnments are made to the staff mcmhers and reporters On Thursday and Friday afternnuns the staff comes to the shack to type their material and have 1t proof read by the sponsor These are the twn husiest days of the week as far as the editor and assocmte editor are cuncemed. Late on Friday afternoon the typed material is taken to the Empire Tribune office. 011 Monday afternoun the editor, the associate editor, the business manager, and the sponsor dash to the Empire Tribune office to proofrread the galleys. After everything has been proof'read and the business manager is satisfied with his ads, the editor and the associate editor help the printers make up the different pages. After this a copy is printed and checked, The press then begins to roll. At five o'clock the circulation manager gets the papers from the printer and takes them to the shack, where he and his assistant carefully address them. On Tuesday morning the students receive these papers, and the staff sighs a breath of relief that another paper has gone out. Mary Louise Clayton, Velma Everhart, Jacquelyn Timmons Reginald Gregory.
