This was the First Conference game and proved to be a great start for Tarleton. The Plow- boys turned on the power and won the game by the score of 91-7. This game proved that many of the new men were real ball players. Graves and Moore were as good as wanted at center. Cage, Grey, and Kennerly were the depend able new men in the backfield. This game sent Tarleton OH to a Flying start in their chase for the conference Flag The reserves got a chance to show their wares and they sparkled, The Dixie University boys were swamped by the topehedvy score of 46-0, This game proved that the Tarleton reserves were Capable, and Wllllng to Carry On. The next week the plowboys ran into a stone wall 03nd so did the Polhwogsh. The T, C. U. freshmen were played in Fort Worth and this game ended as it started, 0- 0. So spoke the plowboys alter they had been defeated by the Weather- lord College Coyotes by the score of 27-13 The Coyotes played great ball and deserved lots of credit but not the credit of beating the Plowboys, It seemed to be Tarleton's ol'l night and the Coyotes took advan- tage of it. This game let Weatherford win second place in the conference race. Long and Couser played a great game in the backField with Taylor and Hoover being powers in the lines Jones and lsbell were Weatherford's great men. The next weelt the Plowboys came back with Fight and power to trounce the T. He completely ballled and whipped the Bulldogs with his speed and powers Tt Mt C was never able seriously to threaten while the Plowboys time alter time pushed the Bulldogs all over the Field, The entire line played both a great ol'lensive and defensive game. The Ranger Rangers came to Stephenville with the intention of removing the Plowboys from the conference races The Plowboys, with the reserves playing most of the game, completely outplayed the Rangers and won the game 26-0. Cage and Gray played great games for Tarleton with the Ranger center being their outstanding player. On November 99, the N, T, A, C. Hornets came to Stephenville with the expectation of winning a ball game. This traditional game was marked with all the color and splendor of many earlier games between these two arch rivals. Ladies and gentlemen, the humble wastebasket. at least one of which is present in 6,875,329,453 homes. oHices. and schools today, has a beautiful history, a powerful significance. and a universal purpose. The wastebasket came into use about the time of Julius Caesar. his thirty- sixth year, in fact. Mr. Caesar used it to put his shirts in. It was not like the small. compact, perfected wastebasket of today It was larger, less compact. and unperfectedi They were generally oblong in shape. although some were square, and it has been said tReference: Schnpiro's liModern and Contemporary Ht'story'd even a round one by a far-sighted genius named Clifford Wortle, but his invention was scoffed at as being sissy and impractical. Ladies liked the shirtbasket. or wastebasket. as it was later called, so well that they adopted it for filing love letters. From this it was accepted as being good for any kind of trash and so it has come down to us today That. my children, is how the wastebasket had its origin Next week Aunt Sally will tell you how, late: on in history, the wastebasket saved the life of King Solomon when he was attacked from the rear by an irate young bride who wanted to go home to mothers eMary Jo.
