Ricky McKoy puts pressure on his opponent. Hoggard basketball was not what it usually has been. The Vikings finished the season with a 10-11 record. The season began December 1. Hoggard blasted Asheville 68-51, and 4 more games were played before Christmas Vacation. The Vikings went into the holidays with a hard fought 2-3 record. Two losses were by only 3 points. Hoggard opened the second part of the season on January 3. Our cagers tripped cross-town rival New Hanover 59-57 and a 1-0 conference record. Hoggard was 3-0 in the conference when we met division favorite Jacksonville. The Vikings came out on top 71-63. February 1 was the date of the second Hanover game. The wildcats were victors in overtime 49-46. This was the second loss in a six-game losing streak which ended with a win the la st game of the season. Hoggard again beat Jacksonville, but this time 74-59. In the division tournament we again played New Hanover. We won 60-47, but then lost to Terry Sanford in an exciting ending 83-81. Reserve Sam Woodbury takes a shot in win over E. E. Smith.
