Hoggard’s junior varsity basketball team did nearly as well as the Senior Vikings, running up a 15-5 record before the season ended. Following an opening loss to Leland, the baby Vikings went on to beat New Bern, 63-53. They were paced by big Bob Hayes and sharp-eyed James Atkinson. Big moments for Hoggard’s JV cagers included two satisfying wins over New Hanover, 96-55 and 45-38, a romp over Reid Ross, 71-47, and the season-ending victory over Kinston, 54-47.
