Temoney turns end... Season Opens With Optimism The 1968 Hoggard football squad compiled a record of four wins and six losses, identical to their 1967 season. The Vikings improved greatly with the season and closed strong with victories in two of their last three encounters. The Viking season opened in Rocky Mount as the Blackbirds downed the Vikings, 26 to 0. The Stedman Rams fell victim to the Vikings, 27 to 7, in the first home game of the season. In the third game, powerful Raleigh Sanderson showing exceptional strength in their initial season, dropped the Vikings in Raleigh, 27 to 6. Returning home, the Vikings completely overpowered Dixon, 40 to 0, for their highest offensive total of the season. The Jacksonville Cardinals, on their home field, rolled over the Vikings, 55 to 7, to leave the Vikings with a record of two wins and three loses at the half-way mark of the season.
