WORKING WITH INDUSTRIAL arts students, Mr. Briggs discusses details of a drawing. FINE ARTS DEPARTMENT . . . Drama is a one semester, one-half credit course. The course deals with the basic fundamentals of acting and a student acquires practice in acting and play production. Speech I and II are both one-half credit courses. In these courses the fundamentals of speech arc- taught. Stress is put on the physiology of vocal mech- anism, on vocabulary building and on the training of the speaking voice. Debate is a one-half credit course. In this course the debate process is carefully examined and practice in argumentation and debate is acquired. Stress is placed on learning to disagree agreeably, on organiza- tion, on clear thinking and on effective delivery-. Band I and Advanced Band arc both one credit courses. Band I is a course for students who might have some instrumental experience, but who are not ad- vanced enough to read senior band literature yet. Band I is a preparatory- course for Advanced Band. The Advanced Band represents Reagan at public perform- ances such as football games and inter-school contests. Orchestra is an instrumental music course designed to help develop an understanding appreciation of good music, and it is a one credit course. General Business I and II is a one credit course offered only to ninth graders. Typing I-IV are all one-half credit courses in which the fundamentals of typing are begun. The student learns to perform faster and smoother as he pro- gresses. Shorthand I-IV are one credit courses per year, with knowledge of diction, correct writing habits and a fluent style of writing taught. Bookkeeping I-IV attain one credit for every year. A student is trained to keep his own business and personal records and is provided exceptional training for a bookkeeper. The second year is advanced ac- counting with emphasis on machine bookkeeping. Business Law is the study of the procedures in busi- ness administration and firms. Data Processing is working with computers and is exceptionally preparatory for a student who intends to go into this field. MAJOR VIRDEN AND Sgt.
