Briggs Industrial Arts dISS ROBERTO. PRACTICE teacher for Mrs. Grossman, works with stu- ents during a televised portion of a German class. MATH DEPARTMENT . . . Related Math may be :aken for two years with one credit per year. It may e taken by Plan I or Plan II students or by those who need more math before beginning algebra. General Math is a one year, one credit course that nay be taken by ninth grade students only. Algebra MV are one credit courses per year. Al- gebra III and IV may be taken as independent half rredits. Algebra I and II must be taken before any ad- vanced math courses and are required for all Plan I itudents. Algebra III and IV are more advanced and nclude some logarithms, graphs and trigonometry. Ugebra III and IV are especially designed to prepare tudents for college work. Geometry I and II acquires one credit. Plan I stu- dents must take either geometry or a second year of algebra. Geometry is the study of geometric forms and figures. Trigonometry is a one half credit course in which the study of the triangle and its use in solving problems is taught. Its prerequisite is Algebra III and is recom- mended for students who plan a college major in math. Business Math I is a one-half credit course de- signed to help the student develop accuracy and speed in calculations, to use short cuts in figuring and to solve some problems mentally. Business Math II is an advanced course in general math designed to help students solve problems en- countered in everyday life. Analytical Geometry is a more advanced math course designed to help students who major in math in college. Elementary Analysis is an advanced course for those very interested in math. 195
