DEAN ELKINS, GOLF TEAM coach for all three years of Reagan's existence, sends the ball across the green. The 1968 Reagan Golf team, led by Coach Dean Elkins, played in the Tournament of Champions in San Antonio, the Austin Invitational Tournament, the Kerrville Invitational Tournament, the District Tourn- ament, and other important meets around the state. According to Coach Elkins the '68 season was one of rebuilding. In a year or two, Coach Elkins predicts a strong team. Of the eight players on the team, one is a senior, four are juniors, three are sophomores. The two top players on the team were Randy Nichols (captain) and Phil Warren. 157

Tennis Team Practices Hard for Tournaments Around the State DAVID SMITH MAKES a powerful forehand drive. The Reagan boys tennis team participated in many tournaments this season. Some of the more important contests included the Bryan Invitational, the San Angelo, the Baytown, the Austin District, and the St. Stephen’s tournaments. The top players of the season were Bill Dreher and Mark Montgomery. Will Davis, Bill Dreher and Mark Montgomery are the only graduating seniors on the team. Several promising players include Doug Smith and Ronnie Herrerra. Besides regular tournaments the team also played against Lanier, Johnston, and other Austin schools in dual tournaments. The team is coached by Mr. Kcrmit Hcimann. r A VARSITY PLAYER practices hard for perfection. MARK MONTGOMERY FINISHES a perfect backhand stroke.
