LANIER . .. The winless Lanier Vikings were skunked by the Raiders, 21-0. Dale Rebold scored the first touchdown for the Raiders on a 50-yard punt return. Thompson scored the extra point. The second T.D. was made by fullback Howard Shaw on a 3-yard run, with Thompson kicking for the extra point. The final score was made on a 9-yard run. McCALLUM ... The age-old game of football was played in a sea of mud” when Reagen met McCal- lum. The South Zone title went to the Raiders as they defeated the McCallum Knights with a score of 35-0. Due to the rivalry which had grown up between Reagan and McCallum because of the Knights’ victory last year, the win was more re- warding. TEMPLE ... The playoff for the 13AAAA District Title was staged at Nelson Field between the Reagan Raiders and the Temple Wildcats. The Raiders de- feated the Wildcats with a score of 27-7. Reagan showed its dislike at being behind when they drove from one end of the field to the other for a touch- down in the last 30 seconds of the first half. ALICE ... Although the Alice Coyotes were rated among the top teams, the Raiders edged by them with a score of 7-0. The defeat of the Coyotes marked the winning of the Bi-District title for the Raiders. The game was scoreless until the third quarter, when Don Ealey broke loose and ran 75 yards for the winning touchdown. BRACKENRIDGE ... The next step up the ladder to State Championship was the quarterfinal game between the Raiders and the Bracken ridge Eagles. The Eagles proved to be no threat to the Raiders. Reagan took the Eagles by an overwhelming score of 20-0. The Raiders then had a 12-0 record. BELLAIRE . .. The last game before the State game was the Semi-Final game against the Bellaire Cardi- nals. The game was played at Austin's Memorial Stadium. The Cardinals fell to the Raiders by a score of 40-6. The Raiders were the first Austin team to play in the Semi-Finals since 1950, when the Austin Maroons played. LARRY RUTLEDGE SCORES for Reagan. WITH A FANTASTIC BLOCK such as this one.
