A 1 1 FOOTBALL Q The football season opened with the Postville ll swamping the 3umneritesl2O-6.. ' On a play Searls, left half, made a spectacular 80-yard dash for the 'first touchf down.1 Sumner recovered a fumble, setting up their lonely tally. Suckow, after'a5O- yard march, made the second Pirate score from the 5-yard line and also madeQ the' extra point. The Firates crossed the goal in four plays for next score and Looney connected. West Unien's passing eroved too much for the Pirates, and they 1lost their second game to the Bombers, 20-7. -if At New Hampton, a mild Postville ll ran over the Chicks in a score - filled A game, the outcome of whidh was 46-14. - , 1 In spite of a hard battle fought between two evenly matched teams,West Union's brilliant passing again nroved too great for Postville, and we bowed to them 14-6. A Postville fumble pavedithe way to their first touchdown and a.skiIUhlly, executed pass to the other. ! V H A - ' 'An invigorated Vaukgn team caught the Pirates napping in the first quarter , and scored their first tally. However, the second quarter found the Postvillia ns Q' wide awake, with Gruhn sdoring from the 5-yard line after a series of line smashes. I Late in the same muarter1Looney scored on a short 'pass and-Nelson made the extra ' point. ,In the second half, Searls scored twice from the 5-yard line. Ulkader pulled a game out of the fire in the last 20 seconds of play toi win by Dittmer's field goal, 9-7. 4 ' , L N al 1 For the first time in history, Postville won a .football game at. Fayette, swamping them 32-C. The.game was a see-saw affair in the Qpening quarter, neither team scoring. 1 In the second quarter, Looney took a pass for the first touchdown. -Then Pearson nabbed a 3G1yard pass, and carried it the remaining 18 yards for the -second touchdown. Gruhn scored from the 7-yard line at the beginning of the second half, with Looney kicking the extra point.
