Page 130 Happily reminiscing, Geraldine Arment and Eric Jerome recall the highpoints of their years at McCaskey as they glance over a pictured scrapbook. Perholps Someclcuy It Will Be Pleolsont To Remember These Things -Virgil Centered around the theme of The Golden Years, the 1965 yearbook has endeavored to highlight the sports, persons, organizations, and events that will perhaps someday . . . be pleas- ant to remember . . Senior yearbook staff members, thru the use of Greek and Roman gods, goddesses, and quotations, have attempted to parallel the Golden Age of the past with their highschool years. Minerva, being the goddess of wisdom, heads the faculty section. The seniors, upon gradua- tion, recollect the incidents of yesterday and an- ticipate tomorrow. Therefore, Janus, the two- headed god of the past and the future, represents them. Neptune, as god of the sea, dwelt in his kingdom under the waters and thus symbolizes the underclassmen. The student life division is personified by the goddess of youth, Hebe. Apollo, decided upon because of his many duties as god of the sun, music, poetry, medicine, and the fine arts, leads the activities pages. Pie- nowned for his unusual strength, Hercules- in- troduces the sports section. The advertisements are preceded by an illustration of Mercury, the god of commerce. On February 25 and 26, McCaskey paid its own little tribute to Mars, the god of war. The episode started in the swimming pool, spread to the halls, and resulted in a rather tense situation. Other less dramatic happenings of the 1964- 65 school year included four changes in the school-board membership and revisions in the curriculum. The Social Studies Department an- nounced a complete over-haul in its course re- quirements so that sophomores will take United States history, juniors, world cultures, and sen- iors, problems of democracy and economics. A group of seniors participated in the Lancaster English Enrichment Program. Elizabethtown College offered an introductory sociology course to interested and qualified seniors. All these events served to fill The Colden Yearsv with many pleasant memories.
