ECHO And Willie Tell A Yec1r's Toile On the wall above the school safe hangs this copy of the epitaph that Shakespeare wrote for himself. Altho the ECHO staff has not moved Shakespeareis bones in this yearbook, it has dug around the stones! Possibly, his funny bone might have been damaged -from laughing at pictures of Willie, a little character who ties together the theme of the book and brings back mem- ories of high school days, rich with a thousand happy, indefinable acts, moods, and feelings. Willie cavorts thru the book like the sprite Ariel in The Temp- est. He is mischievously in the middle of things-cracking the whip of disci- pline, humming the graduation song over the heads of the seniors, handing out sevenths, leading the activities as a ma- jorette, cheering loudly at football games, and eating soft pretzels at Penn Square. Shakespeare risked great criticism from scholars and other writers when he deftly altered age-old stories to please his audi- ence. Today, at the same risk, the class of 1962 has turned the tables on Shake- speare. To aid their purpose, the editors referred to an invaluable book called Concordance to Shakespeare by John Bartlett. They used this reference to find quotations applicable as captions and titles. Besides using Shakespeare's quotations and changing the titles of his plays, the staff borrowed his coat of arms for the yearbook cover. The inscription Non Sanz Droictv COld French? means Not Without Honor. After compiling scho- lastic, sport, and activity records, the edi- tors discovered that these three words also applied to the 1962 school year at McCaskey. If this book had a dedication, the staff would humorously dedicate it To Shake- speare-With Apologies! -IA! S.LN3..L N03 :IO 1 3'I8V.-L The Tamers of the Crew ....... Twelfth Year ................. Willie cracks his whip of authority over a typical scene in the cafeteria. Helene Bolbach, Patricia Rupp, and Charlene Schwar pause in the lunch line to watch Mr. G. Allen Eckert put the heavy arm of the law on Neal Friend and Eric Frederickson for line jumping. Gerald Keeports, Miller Brubaker, Ann Frazier, and Paul Shertz anticipate moving two steps closer to food. 9
