This study marks 21 new step in hoard functions since supervision of the program in the past has been left almost entirely to school administrators. The two primary factors heing considered in the review are what shall he offered and to whom it shall he offered. To assure fast action in the event of lire. the hoard has planned direct connection ot school fire alarms with the Laiiczister Fire Depzirtinents main alarm system. To- gether with the city government and the Community Chest. the hoard has also set up ai committee to work ont n city recreation program. llended hy A, Hugh Forster and Nlrs. Nlalry E. Trails About McCoskey Enliven Youth Education The trails of a small child in his small world, tho broad they seem to him, lead only so far as the back-yard gate or the curb of that busy street he is forbidden to cross. As the child grows. his paths become longer and wider and encom- pass much larger areas. Soon these expanding trails lead to high school. For some students this landmark con- cludes their formal education. For others it of- fers preparation for schools of higher learning. These high-school trails introduce new friends, new outlooks, new ideas, and prepare the stu- dent for the more complex, difficult problems which he will encounter on the broad highway of life. Many exciting, fun-filled paths highlight the trails about McCaskey,'-the wide, impressive walk to the building on orientation dayg the heavily-trod path to the football stadium, the long, busy halls leading to classrooms, friends, and activities, the friendly auditorium steps, al- ways filled with chattering students, the solemn processional to the platform on Commencement night to receive the treasured diploma. Between the covers of this book have been recorded some of the many memories along these pleasant trails-memories in words, mem- ories in pictures-a permanent record of a happy journey to brighten some tomorrow.
