Within a few miles are both old traditional customs and modern factory systems. Lancaster County is rich in agri- culture ancl industry. The fertile soil provides for the excellent occu- pation of the frugal Amish, com- monly called the Pennsylvania Dutch. For the city dwellers there are the Armstrong Cork Company, the Hamilton Watch Company, the Radio Corporation of America,

Ol 0l,UOI All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts. -- WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE. For the past three years our stage has been McCaskey High School, and we have all been bit players in a drama called LIFE. In a little while we shall make our entrance on a bigger stage and assume major roles in the drama. This play has been acted for thousands of years on the stage of civilization, and now a new generation is coming into the spotlight. When we entered McCaskey as sophomores, it was said, and rightfully, that we had the world at our feet and everything ahead of us. The second World War was over and everything was fine and dandy. That illusion was not to last long. Last year, on june 25, 1950, the fragile bubble of peace burst. For the second time in a decade our country was fighting in a war - fighting against aggression and for America's high ideals of freedom. The graduates of 1951 are facing an uncertain future. Some of the boys will go to college or will work. Many more will have an appointment with the armed forces on a battle field, and still others will prepare for military service, for it is the youth who are fighting. As for the girls-some will go to college, some will work, but almost all of them will find their major role in the next few years one of waiting for peace. This acting without a script calls for more than ability. We must want with all our hearts to give a good performance and to make a desirable future for the next generation.
