During past years we have trod paths that others have blazed be- fore us. Youth is adventure, excitement, and a torch for others! Let us begin that new road with all the courage and confidence that will lead us on to eternal success, happiness, and Life itself! T rensurer will Il' GIQL QJISEQWC CLUBS CLASS l-l ISTC IQY Back in the Middle Ages, September, 1938, A.D., four mighty groups joined forces to enter a new kingdom, John Piersol McCaskey High School. They had assembled from different realms of the empire of Lancaster-East, West, George Ross, and Lancaster Township Junior High Schools. These forces entered the new realm as warriors, expecting to rule the capital. How wrong they were! They had neglected to consider an item of utmost importance-the pref vious rulers were efficient, the front ranks were filled, the newcomers were expected to fall in the rear. They endured such hardships as wrong corridor directions given willingly by heartless Seniors, bad report grades, and seventh periods. Soon, however, in spite of all these rebuffs, the superiority of the class became faintly visible. Representation was gained in the Student Coun' cil, athletic groups, and music organizations. It is a matter of history that during that year the school was host to the AllfState Band. Time passed all too rapidly. A new year dawned giving us, now haughty Juniors, an op' portunity to watch the new Sophomores, the class of '42, flounder through the endless halls. The excellence of the class of '41 grew brighter. No longer could the unmatched talents of this unique group be hidden. Loren Braner was inf augurated president, Henry Buckwalter was elected vicefpresident, Nancy Wilkerson kept the minutes, and Alice Geyer was selected his' torian. Again in 1940, j.P.M. became a host- this time to the State Student Council Convenf tion. By that time the class members had dis' tinguished themselves in various activities-foot' ball, basketball, swimming, soccer, track, band, orchestra, glee club, journalism, student govern' ment, and debating. Some were elected to the National Honor Society. For colors, maroon and white were chosen, and a class emblem was se' lected. By the end of June all decided that enough had been accomplished for one year, so the session was adjourned. At last! Finally this noted group passed through the portals of J.P.M. as Seniors, the torch having been passed on by the preceding class. With it we resolved to fulfill our duty wholeheartedly in the service of our beloved Alma Mater. Henry Buckwalter took charge as the new chief execu' tive and the wheel of achievement started rolling. Robert Chryst became vice'presidentg Grace Alexander, secretary, and Charles Francos, treasf urer. At that time the class members assumed leadership in all important helds. The Student Council was reorganized under a new plan. Paramount dramatic ability was displayed in the class play, june Mad. Princess Ida and several concerts were given by the music depart' ments. A number of allfschool dances were sponsored by the school social committee. Class Day and the Senior Prom triumphantly followed. When we realized that we had reached the top rung of the ladder at graduation, we knew that this was only one of many ladders leading to success. The road through high school had been beautiful-beautiful amidst joy and sorrow, triumph and defeat, laughter and tears. We now leave it as an inspiring memory-the first class to live at McCaskey from sophomore year through senior--the CLASS OF '41. Alice R. Geyer, Historian. LQ' SIGNIFICANT FACT, too obvious to require much elaboration, is the growth of the Campus Publishing Company. From seven to seventy yearbooks in three years, to make us the largest exclusive year- book publishers in the east. One way to explain it is to say that Campus in not an engraver, a printer, or any other type of processor, but a service organization well acquainted with the ins and outs of yearbooksg co-ordinating all the phases of yearbook planning and processing. Not being a processor, we can cover the field more completely. There is no budget too small or too large in which we are not interested, nor any reproductive process that we cannot supply-letterpress printing, engraving, offset printing, or gravure. Using these processes to the best advantage, we now make available five different means to a good book. In letterpress printing, MASTER-PRINT and UIENGRAV-PRINT. In offset printing, MASTERTONE and VELVETONE -and in gravure, REGENTVURE. All five, from start to finish, are handled alike, receiving the same Perceptiplan servicing, specialized handling of your yearbook from the infant idea to delivery of a fine finished edition. All five are Campus books through and through. These live - differing in price only as they differ in desired effect and budget limita- tions -possess in full those superiorities in appearance, economy, and general effect that have, in three years, made Campus the leading service organization that it is.
