A group of sophisticated sophomores were meandering toward their doom. From that day on, the aim of the upperclassmen was to prove themselves worthy co-worlcers of this superior class. This was the class of Mid-1940. For a time it was a divided class, for the boys Went to the old Lancaster High Building, while the nbetter half entered Stevens. That year demanded of us many adjustments, but we proved our- selves ready, willing, and able to cope with the situation. Our musically inclined members joined the glee club, the orchestra, and the band: the athletes joined the junior varsity football, baslcetball, tennis, and soccer teams. Some also contributed to the school publication, then in maga- zine form. ' ' As juniors, upon completion of the John Piersol lVlcCaslcey High School, we began our coeducational training. This year we really began to talce a prominent part in school activities, chief among which were The Mikado and the varsity football team. With our senior year came organization, in which we were ably aided by Mr. Oller. The class officers are: President ..... ............... R obert Frey Vice President . . .... Nina May Meisenhelder Secretary .... ........... N ancy Bevis Treasurer .. .... Vvalter Reich Historian ....... .................. J oan Pyfer Our play, in which we were assisted by the class of June, 1059, was a histrionic triumph. Also in this Field was Gilbert and Sullivanys operetta, uRuddigore.H Some of our number were elected to the National Honor Society. After the strain of a semester of toil, there came a round of relaxation and recreation. It was vacation time, and our class was well represented at the New Yorlc VVorld's Fair. Then came the final tive months. The school was soon to lose us. Gur football heroes led brief, but brilliant careers. The Student Council was honored to be led by several mid-seniors. Alter composing our orations, gems proving our rare talents, we held an informal party at Hostettefs Barn. Our senior prom climaxed our social life. It was a gala event, appropriate to such an outstanding class. The crowning glory was achieved at commencement. This remarkable record will go down in the annals of the high school to prove that the class of Mid-1940, with its intelligence and athletic prowess, moral strength, and radiating personality is superlative.
