'r 2 dedication At our school a person's attitude is of equal importance to his actions. Mauritz Dahlberg, our Building Services Supervisor in charge of the care and maintenance of our entire campus, is a man whom we respect not only for the work he has done to make John Muir an out- standing high school, b-ut also for the way he does his iob - with an attitude of friendliness and cooperation. We feel that we have been fortunate in knowing you, Mr. Dahlberg, and in dedicating this book to you we wish to express our thanks. foreword A hall pass, a favorite spot on campus, a club president's gavel, a student body card, a battered history book, an absence slip, a cap and gown - these are the things we connect with Muir, these the the things which we build our memories upon. On the pages of this '59 Hoofbeats are recorded such memory-makers in all their super- ficial simplicity, but with the realization that to the Senior Class they mean Muir. table of contents ADMINISTRATION Administration Faculty School Personnel GOVERNMENT ASB Commissions Councils Leagues ACTIVITIES Pep Squads Music Groups Activities Production Classes Clubs SPORTS Football Basketball Track Baseball Gymnastics Swimming Tennis Golf Girls' Sports GAA Aquacade SENIORS Senior Memories Senior Pictures Academic Muir Senior Activities Senior Highlights Who's Who Indices Autographs Editor's Note 10-12 13-17 18 22, 33 23-26 I 27-30, 31-32, 45-47 48-49, 50-51, 52-53, 69-89 34-35 36-38 39-40 63-66 54-62, 67-68, 90-93, 94 95 96-104 108-124 125-131 132-135 136-140 141-142 143-144 145-146 147 149-151 152-153 154-156 160-171 172-175 196-199, 202-207, 218-219 176-177, 182-183, 188-189 194-195, 200-201 208-209 220-221 222-234 235-239 240 ,178-181,184-187, 190 193 EDITOR ice ASSOCIATE! SEASON'S REVIEW The Muir Colts had a very successful season with a record of seven wins and two losses. The non-league games with Fontana, El Rancho and Western proved to be no match for the Colts. The Foothill League was a little bit rougher, as the 'iB's soon found out. In the first game with Glendale, the Colts had little trouble winning, trouncing the Dynamiters T8-O. Burroughs beat the Colts by a score of T8-6. The next game was no contest, as the Colts rolled over the Burbank Pups 41-6. The following game was a tough battle with the Glendale Hoover Tornadoes in which the Colts came out on the short end of a T2-7 tally. The contest with Pasa- dena was met with high spirit and determina- tion. Muir took control and led all the way to a 38-12 triumph. SEASON'S RECORD B FOOTBALL Muir 29 .
