u KWH nsflo atinnal Iain Jfratzrnitp Nu Beta Epsilon was founded in 1918 by Barnet Hodes, a law student at Northwestern Univer- sity, now a prominent attomey in Chicago. The purpose in founding the fraternity was to provide an organization wherebylaw students could loin together into a nucleus, bonded by brotherhood, friendship and the common seal of all, to promote the intellectual and professional well being of its brothers, to broaden the field of knowledge, and to preserve and improve the standards of the legal profession. Today Nu Beta Epsilon is represented by Chapters in the leading law schools of the nation. Zeta Chapter at John Marshall Law School was activated in 1955, and immediately Nu Bute, as it has become known, manifested the objectives of the fraternity. Zeta Chapter captured four of the seven positions on the student council, including the office of president of the student body that year. The 1957 Nu Beta debating team received the top honors for the year, and the class of 1958 elected its entire student officers, day division, from the ranks of NU BETA EPSILON. We of Nu Beta feel that this rapid growth of Zeta Chapter is indicative of the effect that the high standards our fraternity demands of its members, has on the peoplewe comeincontactwith.
