WEIGHTLIFTING The 1985-86 John Marshall High School WHIGHTLIFT-ING TF.AM is quite a group of young men and ladies. The men's Weightlifting is made up of mainly Varsity and J.V. Football players, while the ladies team is made up of a few girls with a lot of heart. We don't have any hot shots this year,'' says Mr. Valenzisi, the Weightlifting coach. But there are guys who arc consistent and will be able to hold their own in the competition. ' This year's Weightlifting team works together. Success for them comes as no surprise. 1986 TRACK MVP’S Aaron I-ctt Vanguard: DeNean: Vanguard: DeNean: Vanguard: DeNean: Vanguard: DeNean: Vanguard: DeNean: What was your reason for first becoming in-volved with the sport of Track and Field? I saw the opportunity to excel in something that I liked. What are your goals on the track in 1986? 1 am unsure at the present moment, but whatever my goals, I am sure that with hard work, 1 will accomplish them. Are the Olympic Games in your future? Again. 1 am uncertain, but being a member of the team would be a great honor. How would you rate your individual success since your initial involvement on the track? 1 would give myself an A for my astonishing accomplishments. What is your greatest memory of JMH Track? My greatest memory is of being the City Champion in 1984, and of my coach, Mr. Elkins for without him, my success would have been non-existent. Vanguard: Because of your large success last season, big people are expecting big things from Aaron Lett. Will this pressure hamper your performance? Aaron: I don t think so because when I am running, I tend to relax. I don't think about pressure to win. I just expect myself to do well in every race. Vanguard: What do you predict your success will be like in 1986? Aaron: Success only comes with hard work and determination. If I work hard, and perform up to my expectations, success will be going to a university of my choice when I graduate. Vanguard: Are the Olympic Games in your future? Aaron: I think so, if I rake care of myself and continue to improve in every race. Hopefully. I will be able to make the L'.S. Olympic Team. Vanguard: If you had to rate your success of the past 3 years from 1 to 9, what would it be? Aaron: Nine because, I had a good year in the tenth grade, and an even better year in the eleventh. I expect to have an even better year in the twelfth. Vanguard: What is your greatest memory of JMH Track? Aaron: Being 400 meter champion at several invitational meets, and having a great coach.
