Thanks . . . Mr. Jacobson Miss Baran The senior prom, graduation exercises, and other activities make the senior year one of the most enjoyable and meaningful years in a student's life. Putting together these activities is nc osy tasktask-----it takes special people like JMH senior class advisors Mr. John Jacobson and Miss Frances Baran to accomplish this. Many long and arduous hours are spent preparing for the actual graduation exercises. Mr. Jacobson and Miss Baran handle much of the behind the scenes work for the prom and commencement. They see to it that a lot of the detailed work gets done...many seniors don't realize that. remarked a colleague. During their years as senior class advisors, Mr. Jacobson for 12 years ano Miss Baran for 8 years, have initiated the senior class T-shirt and hold- ing graduation exercises outside. WhSe they spend much of their time with the seniors, each has other duties at John Marshall. Mr. Jacobson teaches O.W.E. and has coached football and basketball. Miss Baran teaches English and has been the yearbook advisor The job of senior class advisor requires a tremendous amout of time and effort which frequently goes unnoticed. As one senior class officer said, “In the organization of the senior class activities. Mr Jacobson and Miss Baran have not only been helpful, but have shown a great deal of enthusiasm in the success of the senior class. Thanks Mr. Jacobson and Miss Baran $

Thanks. . . Dr. Locke When Dr. Carl Locke tells his students to get on the stick” he means it. A demanding-yet fair- teacher, he expects much from his students and is more than willing to help them when needed. His classes are tough but his students recognize that they will be well prepared for college. As one student noted, By his method of teaching, you know that you are genuinely learning something.” Dr. Locke has visually displayed his sincere interest in the students by attending many of the basketball and football games. Over the years his scouting reports of the opposing teams have been a tremendous help to both the football and basketball teams. During the years he has coached football, J.V. basketball, and track. An excellent singer. Dr. Locke is a vocalist in his church choir and at JMH faculty gathering where the singing of golden oldies is a must. In his spare time. Dr. Locke plays golf and goes camping. He is the chairman of the Board of Deacons at the 2nd Calvary Baptist Church. A John Marshall faculty member for M years and Science Department chairman for the last 2 years. Dr. Locke is qualified to teach physics, chemistry, and biology. In the classroom and out he treats his students like ladies and gentlemen and he wants them to achieve success in everything they do. One of his colleagues summed up the faculty and the students' feelings about Dr. Locke with He cares”. Thanks Dr Locke.”grx Betsy Gibbons Secretary Gene Gibbons Transportation Coordinator Mabe Grayson Guidance Counselor Truman Fields Printing 7
