REACHING FOR TOMORROW It is hard to say goodbye to a friend. We came to Marshall as sophomores who knew little of what was to be expected of us. Hut we soon learned and got to know our school. We shared in each honor bestowed upon it. and also in each disgrace. Yet still Marshall stands as a friend to whom we will always belong. Those we met there influenced our lives and enabled us to grow Sure there were hassles, but we also had much fun like any other relationship with a friend. Somehow we have made it to graduation, leaving behind high school, knowing that the faculty and students wish our class the best for what lies ahead. We. the class of '79, remember all the joys and sorrows and many friends we made as we say our farewell to John Marshall High 4

What lies behind you. and what lies before you are tiny matters compared to what lies within you . . . Leaving Marshall stirs different feelings within each of us. ranging from uncertainty to anticipation. We are unsure of what lies ahead. Will we fulfill all of our dreams and ambitions? Can we live up to the expectations of those around us? Through knowledge we have gained assurance in our abilities, opening new doors to future opportunities. Among the most precious things we carry with us are the friendships we have made during our school years We will all be taking different directions, and eventually be on our own. but we hope never to lose touch with the closest of these friends because who wc arc. who we become is determined by those who love us.
