BUSINESS A new era has dawned upon John Marshall over the past two years with the installation of a computer terminal. The terminal transits information from John Marshall to the computer at the Board of Education. Students enrolled in the accounting-computing class are trained in key-punching, bookkeeping machines, adding machines, sorting, typing and the operation of the terminal. They are also trained as accounting clerks. With the advent of the computer, many new types of jobs have been created and John Marshall is keeping up with the times by training our students to develop skills in these data processing areas. Clerk-1 ypist, Accounting-Computing. Graphic-Communications, and the cooperative training programs in Automotive Marketing, Distributive Education Retail, and Cooperative Office Education There arc several courses offered in Business Education that students may elect to study which enables them to gain added exposure in the business professions Bookccp-ing. General Business. Sales. Law, and Typing are the subjects which may expand a student's knowledge of business and the community. DISTRIBUTIVE EDUCATION MARKETING Distributive Education Marketing is a Cooperative training program designed to teach the fundamentals of retail and business management to high school seniors In the classroom, the students study various areas such as Human Relations, Retail Management, Advertising. Mathematics. Economics The classroom subjects are aligned closely with their education at their training stations The retail cooperative student works in such areas as supermarkets, variety stores, department stores, and a variety of speciality stores.
