D English John Marshall's English department, serving an interest and ability levels, offers students a wide variety of courses from extended studies in world. American and English literature, to short, in depth views of life and literature available as mini-courses. Academic Challenge teams have consistently brought honors to John Marshall. In 1973, Ann Cibula, John Heilman, and Robert Kessler reached the quarter Final round. In doing so, they not only brought acclaim to the school, but also won a prize of books and a trophy for JMH. The 1974 team looks forward to even greater success. Throughout the ages, man has recognized and encouraged those who excel by establishing for them special honors. In modern times, election into the National Honor Society by the secondary school faculty honors students for their attainments already made in Leadership. Character. Scholarship and Service. Descriptive Chemistry is treated either as an out-growth of these concepts or as the point of entry. Physics experiments utilize such up to date equipment as air tables. Polaroid cameras, strobe light and photoelectric counters. Physics is a qualitative study of physical phenomena such as forces, energy and atomic structure.
