® January, 1967 Senior semester centers around activities planned by 12A officers: Judy Hassing, Secretary; Terry Skolnik, President; Jackie Orsagh, Vice President; and Richard Stands, Treasurer. Busiest place in JMH is bookstore on opening day. Activities and ideas continue among friends after hours. 2 Class officers judge dance contest. Tedious hours of typing are requirements for yearbook deadlines. Dennis Ward and Linda Soltez jerk to first place at 10B Mixer. From THE RUBAIYAT OF OMAR KHAYYAM we take the lines. The moving finger writes-, and having writ, moves on-, nor all your Piety nor Wit shall lure it back to cancel half a line, nor all your tears wash out a Word of it. What better symbolism for the student, the Marshallite. who spends each day. jotting notes on American literature; differentiating functions; calibrating scales-, marking ballots, than the instrument that serves him? ... the pencil. 3 The library plays a vital role in helping Mar-shallites maintain high academic standards. 4 The warm, friendly atmosphere of John Marshall is created by the variety of student-teacher activities. Language students will always remember Le Circle Magique and other methods for easing the tension while communicating in a new and different way. ‘Mrs. McThing,” a project representing hours of preparation memorizing lines, creating scenery, blocking action—all under careful faculty direction—rewards all involved. The same degree of joint participation attends intra-scholastic events as at the October I, confrontation with West Tech. Door decoration competition is unique. Memories always remain of the prom. A piano solo highlights the midwinter concert. Students restore energy for remaining hours. Football team displays its potent offense at rally. 6 Marshallites are loyal supporters of their school and city. Dedicated Marshall followers cheer enthusiastically for their Big Red teams. Fans proudly display loyalty items during school. On sport nights Marshall beanies and shakers color the area with a vibrant red and white. As dedicated Clevelanders, many students give up summer hours as tutors in the Pace program for elementary school children. Hospital volunteers, and nurses aides also come from the ranks of Marshallites . Marshall has added to Cleveland's reputation as the best location in the nation. 7 of Cleveland, Ohio SCHOOL LIFE A CA DEM ICS ACTIVITIES Page 1 Page 12 Page 34 A THLETICS SENIORS ADS Page 52 Page 64 Page 88 ACADEMICS . Mr. Cihlar assumed the command of John Marshall in September of 1965 after serving the Cleveland School System for 29 years. It is the earnest hope of the faculty and myself that all members of this class enjoy a rich and rewarding life. Most of the experiences that you were exposed to in the past three years were purposefully placed there to prepare you to be a productive, spirited member of society. Your willingness to share your knowledge and talents with the less fortunate and your recognition of the rights of others will in large measure determine your worth not only to your country but in your own final evaluation of self. 22 Principal W. Today there is a great emphasis placed on culture, and tomorrow the stress on having a solid cultural background will be even greater. Students of JMH learn to appreciate the beauty of their cultural surroundings through music, drama, and art. Lidrbauch Dean of Boys Dean of Girls Assistant Principal This June Class has reached a goal, the struggle for which, began thirteen years ago. To some, it is the only major goal attained in life; to others, the first step to larger and more rewarding goals. The thrill of accomplishment will diminish unless you find new frontiers to conquer. The magic in life is in the future’s challenge, exploring the unknown, discovering Life's purpose, and serving mankind. Remember, cherish your years at Marshall but do not live in the past, rather, from this beginning project your vision to new horizons and through achievement bring honor upon all. Administration and Senior Advisors D. Luckay Senior Advisor Student Council Advisor The Administration and Senior Advisors are important in the lives of the students. They help the students adjust to high school life and see them through three years of schooling. Many of the senior activities are also under their supervision. They have seen us at our best and our worst yet always seem to understand our problems. It is to them that we owe a debt of gratitude for a job exceptionally well-done. L. Estesen C. Hahn H. Jones J.
