cA Special Salute • • • FOSTER WHITACRE “Having the opportunity to deal with only the students who are g(xxJ,“ has been Mr. Foster Whitacre's most gratifying experience—each semes ter. After dedicating 51 years to guiding young people Mr. Whitacre plans to put aside grade fxx ks and teaching only to continue his active life with a part time job. In 39 years at Marshall he has served well as a teacher of mathematics, as head of the Math Department and as a self-appointed Faculty Business Manager of Athletics. Mr. Whitacre s devotion to duty and his kindness and sincerity on all occasions have long endeared him to his pupils and colleagues. Now as those fruitful years—both for himself and his many students —draw to a close we join him with the countless alumni to say, “Thank you, Mr. Whitacre, teacher and friend. 8

This is the motto of a man who has been teaching at John Marshall for 31 years. Mr. Gaub’s ambition has been to be a good graphic arts teacher and to be respected by all in the community; this he has realized. There are many reasons why he likes us at Marshall: our team spirit, our attitude towards work and the co operation of the students and faculty. The one time sponsor of the Book Binding and Bridge Club now plans to retire, to travel and to work in his own print shop. We wish him many years of welbdeserved leisure. 9
