Fred Mayo checks out his camera before taking pictures. The camera club has been in existence for two years. It is a hobby for some, and it also gives an idea of what professional photography would be like. The members have contests between themselves to see who can take and develop the best pictures. They also take pictures of many of the school functions. Fred Mayo is president of the club, and the advisor is Mr. Bruce Arntson. These two camera enthusiasts spend their spare time developing pictures Club members compare pictures and discuss the good and bad points. 52

Mr. Peterson, debate advisor, seems to be choking on something, or is he just vitally interested in the speaker's talk? DEBATE Debate oFfers a wide variety of interests and activities tor its participants. The goal, learning to speak effectively, is a challenging one, but it carries with it the promise of future success and self-improvement. The qualifications of debators are to think quickly, to speak well, to have a desire to Phil Voxland prepares to launch another tirade in support of his point of view during debate practice. 51 study, and to be a better-than- average student. The team, under the leadership of Mr. Peterson, holds tournaments with other teams, which adds greatly to their skill and experience. Debate had been absent from the curriculum for several years, but it got a start last year. It was under a test period this year - a beginning of organization. To RAYOMS This radio enthusiast dons his headset and goes to work. RADIO CLUB The Radio Club, in its first year, has held work meetings every Saturday morning. This type of activity provides interesting work and enioyment for the club members. Their obiective is to create an interest in electronics, and also to help those who wish to earn an amateur license to be able to pass the examination. The club would eventually like to operate as an amateur radio station. Mr Blasczyk is advisor to the group. It would take an expert to get something out of this confusionl A club member takes a few min- utes to think about what he is doing. New 53
