Late Hours, Hard , Work, Busy Days, ' Many Pictures Are Ingredients of Life on 1 Yearbook Staff This year's Bear Tracks marks the addition of some new ingredients to the book. Color was ' given a prominent position and the junior high was given added coverage through the aid of a junior high editor. A sixteen page section was devoted to academics and organizations were pho- . tographed in group pictures. Combining summer meetings and some hours N after school, the new 1962 Bear Tracks was com- 5 piled by staffers who wished to give to the students a pictorial history of the 1961-62 school year. This book is their practice in achievement. Classes editors, Carol Powers, Bonnie Robinson, Carol Akin and Sandra Weaver contemplate naming correctly each student at John ' Marshall. lanel Whitt, faculty editor, is a second year member of the staff. Faced with the task of indexing the largest enrollment in JM's history are .lane Higgenbotham, .lohnel Ferguson, Sandra Weaver and Jim Lindberg. All are first year staffers. 1 Here, she and Billie Gail- Smith decide on a different arrange- ment of pictures for the faculty section. I In business ed. students are taught not only the practical use of typing, shorthand, and business ma- chines, but the personal touch which can be given to one's work and is valued by one's employer. lndus- trious students have won many prize positions and scholarships accredited to the fine instruction they re- ceive in the ,l.lVl. business department. Knowing that foreign languages are a vital neces- sity in today's world, the foreign language dept. not only bases its teaching on the grammar translation, but the culture ideals, literature, and the people as a whole. Students are encouraged to keep abreast of World situations affecting the people speaking their language and are often required to make special re- ports. Third and fourth year students take a course combining grammar and the country's literature. Lan- guages offered at J.lVl. are French, Latin, and Spanish. The newly installed language labs proved to be another great stride in learning this year.
