Provides Fitness From Fun Because of the academic emphasis on life and work today, students find it difficult to make time for physical exercise. Physical Education, a mandatory subject for seventh graders as well as one high school year, offers the much needed break in daily academic pursuit through enjoyable, guided, sports and exercise. This year J.lVl. experienced a record breaking gym en- rollment with over 600 students enrolled in girls' gym. Due to this fact the sounds of ereaking bones, strained muscles, and just plain all American noise was greatly increased and the first days of gym were pandemonious. In addition to the regularly offered gym classes are boys' individual and team sports and the girls' sports class. The physical education teachers also sponsor the girls' and boys, Ov clubs. The situation was rectified, however, and physical education provided fitness from fun. wassup I8 pi

Using the past as a magnifying glass, the present clears and is better understood, the future brightens, and students are awed and at the same time spurred on by the magnitude of the questioning future. By looking back, students gain an appreciative under- standing of their heritage and the courage to face the future abreast. Studying the past and present gives one foresight. Oklahoma history, civics, world and American his- tory, world and social problems and psychology sup- ply the much needed fuel for this foresight.
