The office and office staff hold a finger to the pulse of the school. Through these rooms pass communications, plans, and directions linking the administration to the faculty and students. Each member of the staff must be able to perform many duties from handling the switch- board to checking attendance. JUANITA ALLMAN ' DOROTHY HAFFNER Registrar Secretary to Principal I6

Kindness and Courage Characterize the Counselors Increasing demands of modern life and, indeed, the country's need for better educated citizens have added new importance to guidance and counseling. John Marshall High School is striving to meet the needs of 2600 students, standardized tests, college and career planning, and personal problems. Counselors help plan schedules to enable graduates to attend college successfully, or enter the profession of their choice with confidence in success. Rejuvenating your schedule was a popular senior pastime the first several weeks of school. I5

The Stage s Set for Activities ,lohn Marshallis school year is filled with a bustling amount of fun and activity. Plays, school dances, dinners, teas, games, meetings, pep rallies, and assemblies head the never ending list of school functions. With each new sports season, party, or play, comes one new headache to add to the enormous stockpile already accumulated by Mr. lVlcCullom, .l.lVl.'s new activity director and stagecraft instruc- tor. Whenever an organization plans an event, it must be '40kayed,' and scheduled on the school calendar before it can be planned in detail. '4School Lifew literally rests on the atlas shoulders of Mr. McCollum, yet he humbly sums up his activity directorship with 'iwhatever they donit know what to do with, they give to me. Stagecraft, another facet of the directorship, is designed to give the creative and hard working students a chance to exercise their skills and at the same time aid all school departments in art- ful stage productions. All auditorium assemblies are manned by the able stagecraft crew and long hours of preparation are often in order. MR. A. MCCOLLUM B.S. in speech, OUQ N.E.A., O.E.A., O.C.C.T.A., N.S.A., O.S.A.g 1 year at .l.M. In stage craft, Mike Pendergraft and Mike Hall begin the long hours of work re quired to build the beautiful sets for our plays. Mr. McCollum, activity director, is constantly harassed by club members like Bubba Simms of the Student Council and Linda King of the Pep Club to schedule their activities on choice days. I7
