Board Elevates Education The far-seeing, civic minded business men spend count- less hours, weeks, and months making the Board of Educa- tion a machine Working for Oklahoma Cityis youth. They tirelessly toil, providing the best possible educational facili- ties for the students and community alike. Each year, the administration is faced with demanding tasks-more teach- ers to accommodate the ever increasing population, better facilities to replace the dated, provisions for additional class- rooms and buildings-and the ever-present demand for the best personnel and the funds necessary for its employment. The Board's work' does not terminate with the school -year, it is a continuing job. Summer finds them planning programs for stepped-up education to fit the growing needs of today,s young. Few people fully understand the dedicated work of this group-Their upaymenti' given in the future by the cityls scholastic and moral attainment. The administration building is the home of the city's schools. JACK F. PARKER Superintendent of Schools I0 ROBERT CHENEY Principal Behind the scenes and supporting the schools of Okla- homa City at the Board of Education is Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Jack F. Parker. With the school year of 1961-62, Dr. Parker begins his first year as head of the Oklahoma City School System. He spends many hours working to see that Oklahoma Cityis schools meet the proh- lems of an ever-expanding population, and ever-changing community, state and national needs. Working with the school hoard, Dr. Parker does key planning that keeps education in Oklahoma City abreast with the best in the United States. In this school year of 1961-62, John Marshall citizens spend from five to six hours each day gaining the funda- mentals of education, learning to live together and achieve as young American citizens. In a day when many American schools are under fire from critics, the success of John Marshall High School elicits the statement-John Marshall-a proud achievement.
