Languages The Foreign Language Department believes that to study at least one foreign language is highly desirable and the students are urged to do so. They can choose from Latin and several modern languages: French, German, Russian, and Spanish. To gain fluency in the modern languages, the student has access to a well-equipped language laboratory containing thirty-six booths and tapes, records, and filmstrips to be used with the textbooks. Also John Marshall is the first school in Virginia to offer a class in the newest method of studying French, “Voix et Images,” approved by the French government.
