This year was a good year with a lot of new underclassmenf' stated the new track coach, Charlene Vinton. She also stated, The winter with all the snow kept the girls running inside. They did well, considering the conditions they had to work withf' Several records were broken by the track team in the Chatard relays. The girls who broke records were Monique Carter in the 220-yard dash, Penny Christensen in the high jump and the girls relay team consisting of Shelia White, Charlette Brown, Varina Nevilles and Monique Carter. This year's most outstanding com- petitor was sophomore Monique Carter, breaking records in both the 100 and 220-dash. In the state, Carter placed fourth in the 220-yard dash and sixth in the 100-yard dash.
