Students vie for German II travel study Students walking through Mar- shall's language hall this year heard foreign greetings all around them. The Departments emphasis was on increased oral use of a foreign lan- guage by the Language Department students. Mr. William Jefferson and Mrs. Susan Schoenherr both taught Spanish for the first time here at Marshall. German students worked hard to , be able to participate in a study travel program in Europe. ' L wa 22 l Quizzing the class on the proper pronunciation of different hours of the day is sophomore Melissa Holmes. To create more class participation, the students often teach. RIGHT-Acting out a short one-act play during class are these Freshman German I students. Class participation is an im- portant part of the Foreign Language Department. Learning the location and the geography of the different cities towns and rivers of Germany is a main part of any German class. The culture, customs, and traditions of the country also are important along with the basic grammar and pronunciation of the native language fr-.Fi
