Thespians act up Props were frantically checlsed and doue ble checlfed on sets that had been labored on for hours and hours. The cast, which had been transformed to belong to another place and time through the magic of malsef up and weelss of rehearsal, readied itself and awaited the cues, While performing, they could see nothing past the bright lights that shone on them, yet they could hear reassuring laughter and applause, After weelss of learning how to walls, tails, and thinls like their character, Southern drawls and sneers were perfected in the winter melodtamas, and Philip Hines and Tony Willsey presented a thoroughly comif cal ond confusing version of Abbott and Costello's Who's on First? The fall produc- tion of Neil Simon's Barefoot in the Park included performances which eorned more awards than any other production. ln the spring, an all-Thespion cast presented Star Spangled Girl, a threeeperson play direct- ed by senior Dawn Alcorn, in which sophof more Carolyn Lowery portrayed the part originated by Sandy Duncan, Ken Staley, drama instructor, and some of his cosr members, recalled some inci- dents, involving phones that don't ring and lights thot don't shine, that occurred during actual performances, Despite such incidents, Marshall actors and actresses pulled through and the very best were honored, Oliver 'Hmm Hall was voted best Thespion and Sheri Mor- ris and Carolyn Lowery were named Best Actresses for their worls in Barefoot in the Park and He Ain't Done Right by Nell, ond Trent Himes received Best Actor and Zaxaro Kolslsoris Best Supporting Actress for their worls in Barefoot in the Park. The Best Supporting Actors were Doug Smith and Tony Willsey for He Ain't Done Right by Nell and Barefoot in the Park. The best all oround performance was Philip Hines and Tony Willseys adaptation of Who's on First? According to Staley, The timing was incredible. luddu sw4? PIaysfThespians if S3
