KRW Record numbers help in Running up scores, faking first eaded by a new coach, Don Francin, Marshalls track team experienced a large turnout of 114 members, includ- ing 49 girls and 65 boys, 'il was pleased to see so many kids out for the sport, Francin said. Despite large numbers, he stated, We had a basically young and inexperienced team. The boy's team was sparked by record performances of senior Leonard Wade. He set school records in the 100 and 200 meter races with times of 10.9 and 22.28, respec- The varsity girls' team's performance was led by Heidi Herinkx fourth place finish in the women's 1500 meter race at city with a time of 51150, the second fastest 1500 meter ever run by a Marshall girl. Heidi is only a sophomore and has great potential, Coach Francin observed. The boys finished eighth in the city. Finishing first in the city, but expected to place second after Franklin, the freshmen boys turned the tables with several out' standing performances. John Walstrom took fifth in the 400 relay, first in the triple jump, second in the hurdles and third in the 800 meter hurdles to lead the team in individual effort. John Canham took first in the 800, secf ond in the 1500, and fifth in the 1600 meter relay. Rick Padden placed first in the pole vault and fifth in the 1600 meter relay, Dan Dozark took third in the 100 meter hurdles and fifth in the 300 meter hurdles. Byron Hanson was fifth in the 400 relay, fourth in the 400 yard dash, second in the triplejump and fifth in the 1600 relay. Doug Burroughs took third in shotput and Casey Kever got fifth in the 400 relay and fifth in the 1600 meter relay. tively. Other outstanding performances by the boys' team included Joe Buskirk, in the shot- put, who improved over 2Vz ft. from seve enth in the city to third, and junior Art San- chez's performance in the 800, which re- sulted in his life-time best.
