At the state tournament, Nudo pinned his first round opponent, but was eliminated in the second round by his oppo- nent from LaGrande High School. Senior To Tzu Lee, who at nine wins and four losses owned the best record on the team, failed to malse the cut to state. I was very, very disappointed in this season, commented Lee emphatically. Nudo and Lee, the team captains, were the only four year team members and they, along with juniors Art Sanchez and Scott Walden, and freshman Dan Dozarls, prevailed as the bright spots of the team. The varsity matsters toughest challenges proved to be Franlslin Grant and Benson who won the PIL title Marshall only man aged an overall 313 win loss record with one tie However the freshman team pro duced some strong contenders Heavyweight Milse Costin went undefeated on his way to a city championship while Dan Dozarls was undefeated up to the city tournament and Jim Pisatslsy retained a 14-8 record. These people werejust a few of the outstanding freshmen whose talents led them to an over all 9-8 record. Due to the fact that the turnout this year was better than it had been for the past two years, the grapplers were able to form ajv team spanning weight divisions from 98 lbs. up to over 191 lbs. They finished the season with a o-8 final score. According to Coach Psurey, lt's a num- bers game that requires strength and tech- nique acquired through experience. then concluded, We were loolsing at a challenge because of our youth and our lacls of the experience that is so vital in this sport. members.
