By rhe end of season play, rhree girls, Carol Garbus, Wendy Bizal, and Donna Hinesh, wenr up fo vorsiry level ro parricif pare in rhe srafe playoffs where rhe Me Maids came in second, lf was a grear experience playing for rhe ream and adapr- ing ro fhe speed of rhe varsity level, com- menfed junior Carol Garbus. As Coach John Hughes led his ream io an 8-1 record he was unforrunarely forced TO srop in rhe middle of rhe season due io fhe need of lsnee surgery Varsify coach Rod Jones and freshmen coach Suzy Snyder helped our unril Hughes was able ro rerurn. The freshman season srarred off wirh rhe smallesr rurnour ever or Marshall lr was slow in rhe beginning wirh rhe inexperience of rhe players, buf rhey soon rurned ir around and won some games againsr reams rhey had losf ro previously in rhe season, Off campus coach Suzy Snyder guided rhe freshmen io a 5 and A wineloss record. i'We worlsed hard as a ream and had fun our on rhe floor during rhe season, said freshman Lexie Norron. Hughes' main otyecfive was ro have the ream in good physical condirion. This was accomplished by various exercises, drills and by pracricing good volleyball slsills.
