The score of the first meet was Marshall 70, Wilson 55, and Franklin 56. The' first place finishes for Marshall were Frank Savage - 100, Dan Iohnson- mile, Louie Fugere - 2 mile, Tom Rader- 440 , Savage - low hurdles, Johnson - 880 and Terry Beadle - javelin, Rod Jenkins, junior, puts the shot. du g a track meet with Jefferson. The track teamunde the dir- ection of Coach Max ne has done extremely well with some outstanding spikers and field men. Boysfflno GLVQ5' Swim TQQVUS- - , L. to R. - Row 1: Tom Wilson, Mike Corrigan, Jim Azumano, Arnie Soland, Doug Ayers, Jerry Schmidt, Greg Wescott, Greg Danton and Lloyd Brooks. Row 2: Larry Gardner, Brian Clark, Tom Brandt, Jerry Rogers, Bob Stein, Dave Griffith, Bob Goodwin, Don Davis and Mike Hahn. The boys' swim team was very well balanced this season, stated Coach S. Mendenhall, boys' swimming coach. Robert Goodwin, IimAzumano and Greg Westcott were versatile in this season's events and Greg, who is a senior, obtained a first place in the State Meet in the 100 yd. backstroke and broke the state record in this event he emphasized .' He also obtain- ed a third place in the 50 yd. freestyle . Robert Goodwin, sophomore, was one of the better all around swimmers this season. He is shown swimming the 100 yd freestyle. Pete Spellman , sophomore , and Arnie Soland, junior, were also instrumental in the back- stroke, Tom Brandt captured many points in the breaststroke and the 80 yd . individual medley. Robert Goodwin, sophomore, swam the 100 yd. freestyle, the 80 yd. individual medley and 160 yd. individual medley. Iim Azumano, senior, swam the 40 yd. and 100 yd. backstroke and the 40 yd. freestyle. Other specialists in the different fields included Ierry Schmidt, senior, who swam the backstroke, Lloyd Brooks, a junior who concentrated on the backstroke inthe medley relays, Mike Corrigan, senior, exper- ienced in the freestyle races and Bob Stein, sophomore, who swam the freestyle events in the relays.
