It wasn't until their sixth game and their loss to Wilson that they were removed from the top-ten rank- ings. The highlight of the season came with the Marshall-Grant game. The entire studentbody poured out in mass to support the Marshall gridders. The Minutemen had dreams of becoming the P. I, L, champions until Grant de- stroyed the M- Men's hopes by fourth quarter touchdowns. The Minutemen rounded out a five win and three loss record including an untimely loss to the Madison Senators. Marshall was ladden with out- standing talent, foremost being Bob Kelley, senior, who made All-State honors and was voted most valuable player in the P, I, L, Others sharing grid-iron honors were: Neil Melvin, Lloyd Beil, Ken Sato, Steve Donald- son and Barry Moore, all seniors, Coach Everett ended his fifth coaching season and Coach Smethurst his fourth coaching season at Mar- shall with the best record ever attain- ed by the Marshall football squad. Marshall can look for an even better standing next year when juniors Ierry Accuardi, Frank Savage, Bob Roach and others return to don the Marshall football uniform. A coach who cares.
