General science and biology are offered to all students. Classificat- ions of animals and flowers are learned and the disection of frogs and crawfish is attempted. Advanced biology is a closer study of living things. Chemistry and physics courses are offered to students who have completed the necessary requirements in math and science. Physical science is several courses combined, such as astronomy and geology. The courses offered at Marshall are: general math, two courses in algebra as well as geometry, senior math, consumer math and refresher math. There is an annual city-wide competition for better math students in which students receive certificates for displaying high math ability. This year, for the first time math projects were assigned. These were similar to a term paper on some phase of math, which added more interest and study for the students. In the math resource center students and teachers both can work on projects or assign- ments. Private conferences are also arranged in the resource center between teachers and students. Sophomore Bob Anholt works on his math in the math resource center. fe
