Out of the Scrapbook was the speech topic for the court members as they spoke in an assembly Thursday morning. Each girl and her escort walked the length of the gym, bowed to the student body on either side of the gym, and took their seats a- mong plants, flowers and a waterfall which decorated the gym Their speeches were given and an excited student body re- turned to their reg. rooms to vote. The next morning in another assembly the court was once again introduced and the tenseness climaxed. Marshall's 1964 Princess,ChrisConner, was escort- ed to the microphone by the Senior Class president Bill Gaylord, and she then gave a speech just before the 1965 Princess was announced. Jim Azumano casually strolled overto a chair and handed a bouquet of roses to our candidate for the 1965 Rose Festival Queen, Sue Linstrom. Princess Sue graciously accepted the flowers and a red robe, purchased by Girls' League, and also a scrapbook from Cris Conner. Each senior girl was asked to go before the committee who then narrowed the number to thirty-five. Once again the girls came before the committee and were asked questions until the number was cut to fifteen. Each one was required to give a speech. The court of six was then chosen.
