Girl 'S Basketball Begins Varsity Gir1's basketball was intro- duced at Marshall for the first time this year and despite injuries to key players early in the season. the team, with new coach Karolyn Carroll. en- tered their first year of interscholas- tic basketball competition in a posi- tive way, and with great hopes for the future. Posting three early wins over district opponents Holmes and Jay, the Ram Basketeers ran into hard luck after star forward. Karen Mazziotta. suffered an injury, which sidelined her for most of the season. Facing ex- perienced teams throughout their dis- trict schedulc, the girls garnered a to- tal of five victories against seventeen losses in this building year. Losing on- ly Rita Crockett to graduation. Coach Carroll will have a nucleus of exper- ienced players returning for next sea- son's play. ln addition to Karen, squad members scheduled to return for '76 include Juniors Jan Harrell, Terry Reitz and Laurie Bottomsg Sophomores Sandy Meyer, Kathy Kirst, Sue Dodge and Tammy Blackg and Freshman Marncll Hutchings, Rose Mitchell, Carol Xiques, and Deb- bie Alcocer.
