Duties of the moni- l tors are: checking hall passes, lockers, lavatories, picking - up papers, giving directions to visitors, and maintaining order in the corridors. These cadets are chosen in the beginning of the semester by hourly captainsg. the moni- tors must have three teachers sign as references. The hourly captains or supervisors are selected by the student council board. Special duties of the captains are: taking attendance, checking on the monitors, and taking care of any special problems which may arise. The captains meet every Thursday morning at 8:00 A.M. to discuss their duties and problems and methods of improving the hall patrol system. Jackie Pechacek is the general chairman of this group. Mr. Thomas Marx is the faculty advisor. 120

Messrs. Tom Adams, Dwayne Braaton, Herald WNendorf check the instruments which tell that all is well with the heating system. Messrs. Paul Carr and Howard Schrutt work daily on keeping the swimming pool clean. Eleanor Gregorey, Angela lNolfgram, Kate Abra. ham, and Martha Fassel help keep our rooms and corridors clean. l'l9 In addition to their duties as housewives, Marshall's seven cleaning women spend from five to seven hours per night sweep- ing, dusting and cleaning the Hoors, desks, walls, and blackboards of our school. Each of them cleans on the average of thirteen rooms a night, in addition to the cafeteria and auditorium. Cleaning furniture, gym, team room and street lockers are jobs undertaken during the summer months.
