The talk ranges from science to politics and includes the American system of education. Some of the talk is justifiably critical and changes are certain to occur in many areas. It is equally certain, however, that some things will never change. Steadfast belief in our democratic ideals and adherence to high standards of scholarship and citizenship will characterize John Marshall High School in the future as in the past. MR. W. Our school offers us many advantages. In addition to developing our educational background, it provides for social and athletic activities. ln addition to dances, plays, and athletics we have clubs that promote our education and cater to our interests. A person can find many opportunities for recreation suited to his interests and abilities. Our education and activities at Marshall don't iust happen, they are care- fully planned for our benefit. They are planned by people who are dedicated to making Marshall a place of education and enioyment. We will always be indebted to the faculty and administration for their guidance and their efforts to provide us with unlimited opportunities. On their various student-faculty committees they developed a closer unity which helped when planning class activities. The Mercurians sponsored a Christmas proiect which provided canned fruit and six Christmas dinners for needy families and they conducted a fine campaign for the recovery of stolen library books. Bernard Hilberman, Class President, helped the Student Body greatly with his excellent organization ofthe class and his invaluable service which provided busses to the football games. ln addition to their service record, the Mercurians had a lot of fun at their social activities like their Senior Breakfast and Picnic. Their Senior Prom and Grad Night added much to the colorful end of their high school careers. Novoa, B. Baldwin, W. Johnson, B. Erbsen, N. Richardson. The summer graduating class can look back with satisfaction at the close of three years in John Marshall High School, During their senior year, the lmperials, by more participation, established closer ties between the students and their elected student government. Such groups as the Board of Representatives and Student Council enioy tremendous improvement. During the lmperials' last semester, Mar- shall elected to become a pilot school in Los Angeles for a statewide evaluation program. One of the hardest working groups concerned in this program was a committee of senior students with Mrs. Frances Anderson and Miss Dorothy Rake- straw as faculty advisors. Along with their various service proiects for the school, the lmperials enjoyed themselves at their social activities and a close feeling of comradeship between class members made their senior year a memorable one.
