ROBERTO GOLDONI Exchange student from Holy FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENT COMMITTEE: D. Burke, U. Raclczweski, S. Golden, M. James, L. Kap lan, R. Nochum, R. Allen, Miss Kadner, K. Horn A. Frank, R. Goldoni, N. Duncan, D. Treiman, Dubin, I appreciate very much this opportunity I am hav- ing to express my thoughts to the Barrister. This year of mine in the United States has been of great importance to me. The experiences I have had in this school, I am sure, will never be for- gotten by me. I want to take the opportunity to thank the Optimists' Downtown Club, which, with it's financial help, made possible to me to become an exchange student. The classes and the daily school life gave me a chance to know the Ameri- can system, which, although completely different from the Italian one, I found out to be modern and advanced. I hope that in the future you will be able and willing to bring over other exchange students, in order to give other exchange students a real chance to know America and American schools. I had a chance also to practice my favor- ite sports playing under the schooI's flag and I want to thank Mr. Wheeler for the very useful teaching I received. I want to thank all of my teachers, Mr. Kirkpatrick and Mrs. Anderson for the great help they gave me and all of you for your friendship. BOB GOLDONI We are linkeal together

Now that my stay here at John Marshall High School comes to its end, I really realize how wonderful this year has been and of how much importance and value it will be for my whole life. I grew up in Kiel, a German town which differs in many ways from a city like Los Angeles. For example, here it sometimes seems to me that everybody lives on wheels, and almost never gets out of a car, whil in Germany the main means of trans- portation is the bicycle. When I came over last August, everything was new to me: the language, the people, the schools, just everybody and everything. By now so much has changed. I have many wonderful friends, and feel at home at Marshall as if I always had been a member. I learned so much about the way an Ameri- can school runs. Having been a member of Leadership Class for both semesters added a great deal to my knowledge of student government. But besides this I had the most wonderful time at many, many parties, dances and other social activities and sports events. I thank all of you so much for giving me this year and being so nice to me. It is a wonderful feeling, having been a member of the student body of John Marshall High. I hope to meet many of you again sometime later on the other side of the ocean in my country.
