Sgr? no bk fi- ff '92 5 'N 'l' Q S. :Yfj K 53 ' eing a math magician comes quite easy for junior Phu Tran. It all began when he first came to the United States in the third grade. Since Phu did not know any English, math became his favorite subject. He says that numbers are an alphabet in which the whole world could learn to understand and I seem to understand it better than others. When he was in elementary school he won his first award in math. As the years went on, his awards multiplied and not only in math but also in science, history, physical education and even in English. When he entered high school here his success continued by winning awards in Algebra l, Il, geometry, novice number sense, veteran number sense, veteran calculator, novice number sense, UIL calculator and UIL number sense and math reasoning. Phu has competed in more than 60 contests and will compete again next year. He says he likes competing because he can com- pare his intelligence with other people his age. Phu Tran has won over 50 awards consisting of certificates, plaques, trophys and ribbons. Junior Phu Tran completes lab project in physics class. nag, K . lUQ 53i'.' ll:
