l Courses teach students skills ECA, HOSA and OEA are three groups which offers students a varie- ty of choices and chances. Courses ght students the basic job skills and on job training in marketing, medicine, and ce skills. Student must have taken a total wo years of the course. p ECA consisted of training basic business ms and also how to get along with magers, co-workers and customers. pics taught dealt with free enterprise and vertisting. DECA sponsored a city wide nquet for students and their store Lnagers in appreciation for the experience , training the students received at their P place of employment. DECA also sponsored a ten kilometer Spina Bifida Run-a-thon in memory of Bill McEvers, a 1983 graduate, who was a state member of DECA. The run had 400 runners and profited 32800. HOSA was an introduction to health science careers, such as a dentist, doctor, or a nurse. Students were instructed by prac- tical work experience such as changing a pa- tient's bed sheets with them still in the bed. Like DECA, HOSA offered OJT at local of- fices such as Marbach Animal Hospital, Bandera Hospital, Four Season Nursing Home, St. Lukes Hospital, and the Easter Seal Program. Academic views of students seems to be different now. Their knowledge of what they learned, usage of knowledge shows more than ever before, said HOSA instructed Virginia Spikes. OEA offered training in of- fice skills such as filing, record keeping, duplicating and the use of various office machines. OEA also did a lot of fundraising went to different activities, such as the Christmas party, the employer-employee banquet and a end of the year picnic.
