SECRETARIAL STUDIES the secretarial studies department provided us with the skills necessary to enter the business world. using modern office equipment and machines like the addressograph, copiers and thermofax along with the traditional typewriter students were taught how to operate in the modern office. but machines alone do not make the complete secretary! stenography and clerical practice are required skills also. under the instruction and guidance of the secretarial studies staff these skills were given to us. and for the oceans of tests, forms and notices we received in our years at lay we have to thank the john lay Busi- ness Services run by this department. 67 j. schwartz, s. ruskin, r. shapi- ro, p. sillettifchairperson, I sherman, r. wexelbaum. m, rudin
