This year's court consisted of: 9th grade, Natasha Townsend; 10th grade, Tamica Liddell; 11th grade, Nicole Lynch. Escorts were Charles Gullet and George Beard. Mrs. K. Roth coordinates the varied activities for this special week. 29 CARNEGIE LUNCHEONS In 1985, Mr. Laird received a grant to be used to promote student achievement and to involve parents in John Hay's school life. He decided that students deserved recognition on a regular basis. Thus, the monthly Carnegie luncheons honor students for outstanding effort in academic vocational classes or extracurricular activities. Proud parents join their children, faculty and administrators to dine in the 'Hornet's Nest.' Rich Fagan and mother Doris Silva and Mr. Laird 30 The delicious meals served at the recognition luncheons are prepared and served by the students in Food Services Classes under the supervision oi Ns. T. Sheridan. Ms. B. Cheeks, and Mrs. D. Cyrees. 31 The Mock Wedding is a yearly production of the Home Economics Dept. Students plan both the financial and aesthetic aspects of a marriage.
