Non-Dis trict Games REAGAN 37 AUSTIN MAROONS 8 The Reagan Bulldogs, rebounding from its first game lost to Beaumont, trampled the Austin Ma- roons of Austin 37 to 8. The Bulldogs led by their senior backfield scored all their touchdowns in the first three quarters while the fast Reagan line held the Maroons to only 8 points. Entering the game as an underdog, the Bulldogs were never in trouble throughout the contest. The offensive unit handled the ball with grace and efficiency while the defen- sive unit stopped one of the State's most potent teams, Thus the Bulldogs proved that Reagan has one of the State's best teams. .zz REAGAN 19 BEAUMONT 20 Beaumontis Royal Purples stung the Bulldogs 20-19 in the opening game of the season. The Purples, behind 19 to 0 at the half, fought back to give Reagan its first defeat. Scoring 8 points in the first quarter and eleven in the second, the Bull- dogs seemed to be on their way to an exciting victory. However, the Purples came back to score twenty points in the final half to hand the some- what over-confident Bulldogs the defeat. The Bull- dogs lost four fumbles to the Beaumont team and were penalized 55 yards to aid in the Beaumont victory. REAGAN 25 AUSTIN 8 Reagan romped over the Austin Mustangs 25 to 8 at the rain soaked Delmar Stadium. Reagan re- ceived the first kickoff and took the ball quickly down field, but stalled in the shadow of the goal post. An attempted field goal was short and Aus- tin took over the ball. The Mustangs fumbled on their own first play and Reagan recovered on the Austin 18 yard line. Five plays later and with 5:23 left in the first quarter, the Bulldogs had its first touchdown. Austin later recovered a Reagan fumble and managed to score its only touchdown in the second quarter. At the end of the first half Austin led 8 to 7. Reagan returned to score three more times and win the game.
